This is my partner trying to pick out pebbles with his tweezers. Ouch!
This is the large syringe we were given to help us splash out the dirt and grime.
This is how dirty we got it. Oh, these things stink by the way.
This is another activity we did that day. Last week we were able to make a spine board out of whatever materials we could find--way fun. This week we were asked to make traction for someone who might have broke their FEMUR.
When you break your femur (the largest bone in your body), your powerful leg muscles contract and try to hold the leg together. By doing this, lots of strain is out on the broken bone and it becomes almost spuished inside the body. The idea of "traction" is to try and make something that will pull their leg apart, or in its normal position, so the injury is more comfortable.
We were able to use a ski pole, some straps, and an old rag to do the job. We passed.
This class is so awesome!
